Taking its name from the number McLaren used on their 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning F1 GTR, 59Racing is a new Melbourne-based GT team. It’s currently contesting the Australian GT Championship with a two-car program; Ryan Simpson in the team’s McLaren 570S GT4, next to Fraser Ross in the #59 Mobil 1™-sponsored McLaren 720S GT3. As a McLaren Customer Racing client, 59Racing was the first outfit to field the mighty, new 720S in the Australian GT Championship.
Despite only being in the category for two seasons, 59Racing has quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. In 2018, Ross in a McLaren 650S was a title contender heading into the season’s final round. Ross then backed this up with a strong start in 2019, by winning the season-opening round at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
As with every McLaren road-going production car, 59Racing’s brand new 720S GT3 is factory-filled with Mobil 1™ from day one. Given Mobil 1’s focus on technical innovation and passion for performance, McLaren know Mobil 1™ will provide the 720S GT3 with world-beating performance and reliability. The same world beating performance and reliability Mobil 1™ provided McLaren for their three Formula 1 World Driver’s Championships and 1998 Formula 1 World Constructors’ Championship.
